LBI On Memorial Day Weekend: Beach, Rental Info
The beaches are open, but officials set some rules because of the coronavirus.

LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ — Beaches around Long Beach Island and the Jersey Shore are open for Memorial Day weekend. But there are some additional rules because of the coronavirus.
Here's some important information before you attend LBI beaches this weekend. Information comes from Ocean County, the LBI Chamber of Commerce and borough websites.
Barnegat Light

- Beaches remain open and badges are available online. The preseason price has extended until June 12.

Beach Haven
- Beaches and restrooms are open. Badges are available via an app on the borough’s website or at the Centre Street badge office.

- no pets allowed on the beach as of May 14
Harvey Cedars

- pets allowed on the beach until May 30
Long Beach Township
- Beaches are open and seasonal beach badges can be purchased at The Beach Badge Shack on 68th Street, Brant Beach and at other locations listed on the township’s website. Badges are required on township beaches from June 1 to September 7.

Ship Bottom
- Beach badges are for sale online and at Town Hall and are available at preseason rates through May 31. The preseason price lasts until May 31.

Surf City
- The borough never closed its beaches. Badges are available at Borough Hall and preseason rates are in effect through May 31.

Here are some additional guidelines, per Governor Phil Murphy's orders:
- Local officials decide on capacity limits — specifically, limiting the number of beach badges sold or monitoring the number of people present on a beach.
- Social distancing measures of 6 feet between groups are required, except for family members, members of the same household or couples in a relationship.
- No organized games, summer camps, contact sports or events such as beachfront concerts or festivals.
- Rides and arcades will remain closed.
- Showers and restrooms may open, but with strict cleaning standards.
