Loaded Handgun Found After Man's DWI Crash In Manahawkin: Police
The driver, Giancarlo V. Tomasello, was being held at the Ocean County Jail following the crash, Stafford police said.

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Manahawkin man was arrested Tuesday after police found a loaded handgun in his car after he crashed into a tree, Stafford Township police said.
Giancarlo V. Tomasello, 27, has been charged with driving while intoxicated and second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun and is being held in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River.
Tomasello was driving his 2016 Nissan Altima on Ridge Avenue Tuesday when he crashed into a tree about 7:30 p.m., police said. He was arrested on the DWI charge, and his car was towed.

Further investigation turned up a loaded 9mm handgun in the car, police said.
In addition to the weapons charge and driving while intoxicated, Tomasello was issued "numerous" motor vehicle citations, police said.

The investigating officers were Sgt. Russ Griffin, Patrolman James Sutter, Patrolman Joseph Luna, and Patrolman Chris Smith.
