LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, NJ — Long Beach Township police will issue disaster re-entry passes to residents. Locals will need the placards in case of an event that causes emergency evacuation, such as a hurricane.

Passes will be mailed in the coming weeks. Year-round residents who rent will need to bring their lease to the police records office to get a new placard.

If you no longer own your property and receive it in error, the LBTPD asks you return it to the police records office or give it to the new property owner.

"The placard’s intention is to enhance the security of your property during an evacuation and to give residents priority during the repopulation process," LBTPD wrote. "Please consider securing the placard in the primary vehicle in which you would return to the island."

Consider putting the placard in your primary vehicle, the LBTPD said. There is a $50 replacement fee for lost placards.
