Man Found With Handgun, Hollow-Point Ammo In Barnegat: Police

Authorities executed a no-knock search warrant on a Village Drive home.

BARNEGAT, NJ — A man had a handgun with hollow-point ammunition at his Village Drive home, police said. Authorities executed a no-knock search warrant at 1:54 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers recovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a Colt .38 caliber revolver loaded with hollow-point ammunition, police said.

Naquan Bennett, 29, was charged with possession of a handgun, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of fewer than 50 gram of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officials placed him in the Ocean County Jail.

Another person was charged with possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court date.

The Barnegat Police Crime Reduction Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Strike Force and Ocean County Regional SWAT Team executed the search warrant.
