MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Manahawkin Lake at A. Paul King County Park will reopen Friday for swimming. The site will feature new restrooms and a new picnic pavilion that can accommodate up to 100 people.

There is also a new grill, sidewalks and American with Disabilities Act upgrades, including parking spaces and bathroom entrance ramps.

While the beach was open to the public throughout last summer, the park's picnic area and stationary bathrooms were closed because of renovations. The new bathrooms are precast and delivered similar to modular home sections.

Social distancing rules will remain in place, according to Ocean County Freeholder Virginia E. Haines.

“We will have social distancing ambassadors helping out where they can,” she said. “While we want everyone to enjoy our parks, we want everyone to be mindful of the health and safety of everyone.”
