Manahawkin Man Dies In Multi-Vehicle Atlantic City Expressway Crash: Police

He had pulled his truck over after being involved in a separate crash, exited the vehicle and then was struck by another car, officials say.

HAMILTON, NJ — A Manahawkin man died Saturday night when he was struck by a car following a separate crash, New Jersey State Police said.

Joseph J. Pagano Jr., 34, was heading west on the Atlantic City Expressway in a Dodge pickup when he was involved in a collision with two other vehicles, DSG Caitlin Brennan told Patch.

Pagano pulled his truck to the right shoulder and got out, Brennan said.

He crossed the westbound lanes and was struck by a Nissan SUV in the left lane, Brennan said.

A Kia then struck the Nissan, she said.

Pagano was fatally injured, Brennan said.

Three passengers in the Nissan and the driver and two passengers in the Kia sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
