Coast-To-Coast Search As Manahawkin Man Mysteriously Disappears

A search is underway for a New Jersey man who had gone on a long trip and his abandoned car was towed because it was in the way of snowplows.

Richard Cambria, 59, of Manahawkin was reported missing on Nov. 13 after his abandoned vehicle was found in Nevada, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.

Cambria’s family created a Facebook page with information about his disappearance, saying he was last seen on video footage checking out of the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, Nev.

He had stayed there one night. His car, a 2014 metallic silver BMW X5 with New Jersey plates, was later seen parked legally on Highway 431 near the Tahoe Meadows trail head, according to the family.

The car remained there until Sunday, Nov. 25 when it was towed because it was in the way of snowplows, the family said.

"We were notified that day that the car was towed and learned Richard was missing," the family said. "His charged cell phone was found in the car turned off along with his luggage and most of his belongings."

The car key was missing, the family said.

Cambria is around 5-foot 9-inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds. He has brown eyes and is partially bald with brown hair. He sometimes wears gold-rimmed glasses.

Cambria was on a long road trip and had driven to Sparks on Nov. 12 from Santa Barbara, Calif. where he had been staying for about a month.

He had previously visited Incline Village in August where he stayed at the Hyatt in town, the family said.
