Manahawkin Workshop To Outline Mill Creek Dredging Project
Township and ACT Engineers will discuss the Mill Creek dredging and marsh restoration project on May 21.
MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Stafford Township is inviting residents to a public workshop on the planned Mill Creek dredging and marsh restoration project in Manahawkin.
The Resilient Stafford Workshop is scheduled for May 21, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Mill Creek Pavilion, 1199 Mill Creek Road, according to the township's announcement.
The workshop will provide an overview of the project, which the township said includes efforts to restore proper water flow and navigation in Mill Creek. The project also calls for beneficial reuse of dredged materials for nearby marsh restoration, according to the announcement.

In its announcement, the township said the planned improvements are intended to help strengthen natural defenses against storm impacts, enhance wildlife habitat and improve overall ecosystem health. The township said residents can attend without signing up in advance.
Representatives from Stafford Township and ACT Engineers will be present at the meeting. The project is funded by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Natural Climate Solutions Grant Program, with partnership and coordination efforts provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, according to the township.
