Motorcyclist Airlifted After SUV Collision In Manahawkin: Police

The 23-year-old motorcyclist was riding south on Route 9 Saturday evening when he collided with a SUV, Stafford police said.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — A Manahawkin motorcyclist was airlifted to a hospital after colliding with a SUV Saturday evening, Stafford police said.

Matthew Tancredi, 23, was riding south on Route 9 near Polly Pod Road at about 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 15, police said.

At the same time, a Ford Explorer driven by Mayetta resident Edward Lally, 73, pulled onto Route 9 from Polly Pod Road into Tancredi's path, causing the two to collide, police said.

Tancredi was airlifted to Atlantic City Trauma Center by LifeFlight for treatment, police said, while Lally was not injured. An update on Tancredi's status was not available as of Monday morning.

Traffic was diverted for about two hours during the investigation.
