Myhre Reflects On Time As Stafford's Mayor
On Jan. 9, Greg Myrhe will resign as mayor of Stafford, and sworn in as a member of the General Assembly.

STAFFORD, NJ — When Jan. 9 hits, Greg Myrhe will resign as the mayor of Stafford Township, and will be sworn in as a member of the General Assembly in the 9th Legislative District.
Myhre reflected on his term as mayor at the first Stafford Township Council meeting of 2024.
When he was first elected in 2019, "there were a whole lot of things that needed to be fixed," Myhre said. He thanked the staff at Town Hall, who "really have done a great job."

One of the first issues Myhre got to work on was the sewer system at Beach Haven West, which today is moving into step six. Not only did it replace the old system and get new roads in, it also helped clean up the water around Manahawkin Bay, Myhre said.
Another accomplishment he noted was Stafford Park and the agreement with the Walters Group to rehabilitate the water tower, adding new fields to Nautilus Park and building a new substation for fire and emergency services.

"Most importantly," Myhre said, was the township's bond rating increasing to AA by Standard and Poor's. The township also just went from Aa2 to Aa3 with Moody's.
"Our surplus was nearly doubled since I took over in 2019," Myhre said.
Playgrounds have been made ADA accessible in town to help disabled residents, he added.
Myhre thanked the Council and his family for their help and support.
"It's been a really great experience. And Stafford Township is my home," Myhre said. "I'm very proud to call it my home. And it will be for as long as I can live here."
