A 23-year-old man died of an apparent heroin overdose early Sunday morning, despite the efforts of Long Beach Township police and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office to save him by administering Narcan, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Ryan Mahony responded to a residence on Long Beach Boulevard at 6 a.m. on Nov. 16 on a report of an apparent overdose death, said Al Della Fave, spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office.

Mahony met with Long Beach Township Detective Ron Hullings, when he arrived. The man was found in the bathroom of the home at roughly 5 a.m. by a relative. Efforts to revive the man with Narcan were unsuccessful and he was taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center, Della Fave said.
The scene was processed by Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI. A hypodermic syringe and other evidence of narcotic substances, including heroin, were found at the scene. An investigation into the source of the narcotics will be conducted by the Long Beach Township Police Department and theProsecutor’s Office, he said.
