Nasty Weather Heading For Barnegat, Manahawkin Tonight

Heavy rains, strong winds, localized flooding expected

Southern Ocean County residents should expect a stormy night ahead, according to an advisory issued by Barnegat Township and the National Weather Service.

Showers and thunderstorms should develop late this afternoon and tonight, which could produce heavy rains, strong winds and localized flooding.

Rain should start to fall around 5 p.m. today. Heavier rains and strong thunderstorms will occur mostly during the overnight hours, with as much as two inches possible. A low of 65 degrees is expected, and strong winds. Flooding in poor drainage areas may also occur.

Residents are urged to secure outside items like trash cans and Halloween decorations. Please monitor weather conditions and be prepared for the potential of severe weather.

Expect showers on Thursday with a high of 72 degrees and southwest winds of 10 miles per hour, according to the NWS.

Things will clear out by Friday. The NWS is calling for a high of 70 degrees and west winds between 11 to 13 miles per hour.
