National Weather Service Beach Report For June 12, 2016

Sunny skies, but winds increasing this afternoon.

If you're heading to the beach today, expect windy conditions.

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-80s. Beach winds will start out at 10 miles per hour, but will switch to the northwest at 20 miles per hour in the afternoon.

The surf will be around three feet, with south swells of two to three feet. Water temperatures are still chilly, between the low to mid 60s.

Bring suntan protection. The UVI index is very high at 9.

The rip current risk today is low. But strong currents can still occur near piers and jetties. Rip currents are possible,especially during the lower portion of the tide cycle. Swim in only areas where lifeguards are present.
