New Barnegat School Board Members Sworn In
The Board of Education also voted for its 2023 president and vice president at their reorganization meeting.

BARNEGAT, NJ — The Barnegat Township Board of Education welcomed five new members and chose a new president and vice president at the board's recent reorganization meeting.
Sean O'Brien, the most recent board president, Scott Sarno, a former board president and Carol Geene took three-year seats, while Colleen Angus and Lauren Washburn filled unexpired terms.
O'Brien and Sarno ran on opposing tickets during the election season, and this opposition was quickly reflected during the first meeting of 2023.

When it came time to choose a board president, both O'Brien and Sarno received nominations.
O'Brien won, with votes by Angus, Bruno Iamonte, Bonnie Levy, Regina Tarnowski and himself.

Sarno received yes votes from himself and Washburn.
Geene voted no on both, and Sandra Churney voted no for O'Brien and abstained for Sarno.
Levy was selected as vice president, getting the majority of votes over Washburn, the other nominee.
"I look forward to another year as president, to continue pushing our schools forward, increasing the success of our students and our town," O'Brien said.
"I want everyone to know your school board will continue to ensure students are prepared for responsible citizenship and success in life," he said. "We will not step back. We will always move forward."
