Newly-Rebuilt Dunes In Holgate Off Limits To Driving

Since there seems to be some confusion about where driving is restricted on the beaches in Holgate, Long Beach Township police want to make it perfectly clear.

Please stay off the dune area recently rebuilt by the public works department after the last storm, according to a post on the police department's Facebook page.

"The dune area that was rebuilt by public works after the last storm IS restricted dune area, even though new dune fencing has not been installed yet," the post states. "The new fencing will be installed after beach replenishment is complete."

If you see any vehicles other than emergency vehicles or township Department of Public Works vehicles on the restricted area, please call dispatch (609-494-3322) immediately so that patrols can address the issue.
