NWA Pro Wrestling Rouses the Crowd in Barnegat

Wrestlers battle in and out of the ring at the high school gym.

The National Wrestling Alliance brought its professional wrestling show to Barnegat High School Friday night.

NWA champion Chance Prophet defended his title by beating Johnny Calzone in a match where the two were joined together by a chain. Calzone was a substitute for Axl Rotten, who did not show up. At one point Prophet had Calzone hanging from the ropes, held there by the very chain that bound the two men.

The crowd was entertained all night by the antics of the wrestlers. "Whacky" Wayne Woo shot silly string at his opponent. Patriotic fervor was stirred during the flag pole match between Sergeant Dan Gleason and Maniac Modar Assad. That battle spilled out of the ring and into the stands to the delight of cheering children who screamed: USA! USA!"

Other highlights of the evening were The Midnight Sensations flying through the air while winning their tag team match and Tough Kacee Carlisle beating Vivacious Kimber Lee in a ladies match.

The wrestlers interacted with the crowd, kids and adults alike, with the villains feigning to attack and the heroes absorbing the adulation.
