Overturned Car Bursts Into Flames And Ejects Driver In Barnegat Parkway Crash
Traffic was backed up for hours Wednesday night on West Bay Avenue and the Parkway after a SUV crashed into a sedan, State Police said.
BARNEGAT, NJ — A driver was ejected from his car in a crash that caused major traffic jams for hours in Barnegat Wednesday night, police said.
Around 4 p.m. on Nov. 2, a Volvo SUV crashed into a Hyundai sedan just north of Barnegat's northbound Garden State Parkway entrance, New Jersey State Police Trooper Brandi Slota told Patch.
The Volvo went off the road to the left, overturning into the median and bursting into flames, Slota said.

The Volvo's driver was ejected from the car and sustained serious injuries, she said.
The Hyundai's driver sustained minor injuries, Slota said, and both were taken to hospitals for treatment.

As a result of the accident, traffic was backed up for hours west of Lighthouse Drive and east of Barnegat Boulevard on West Bay Avenue, and two left lanes were blocked on the Parkway, according to Barnegat police.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday, traffic was flowing normally on West Bay Avenue but the Parkway was still backed up and reduced to one lane, Barnegat police said.
