Pinelands Boy Posts Explicit Video Of 12-Year-Old Classmate: PD

The student was charged after the incident, according to officials.

A New Jersey student was charged Thursday with posting an "explicit video" of a 12-year-old classmate, officials said.

Melissa McCooley, superintendent of the Pinelands Regional School District, said the junior high student was charged by police after he posted the explicit video of a female classmate on social media.

McCooley asked parents for assistance to speak with their children "due to the fact that multiple students have elected to repost this video."

"Please understand that the student depicted in the video is 12-years-old," she said. "Therefore, this is classified as child pornography. Those reposting a video such as this could be subject to criminal charges as well."

McCooley said students need additional education regarding the ramifications of creating inappropriate messages and videos and posting them on social media.
