Big Barlow's BBQ Makes Return With New Manahawkin Location

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Barbecue lovers, stock up on napkins and head on down to Manahawkin - Big Barlow's BBQ & Catering is coming back with a permanent location.

What started out as a food truck created by local pitmaster Chris Barlow in 2018 at Manafirkin Brewing Company quickly grew into one of Ocean County's most popular spots for barbecue.

Big Barlow's opened a brick-and-mortar store in 2019 in Barnegat before moving to a bigger spot the next year.

But it closed in 2021 due to rising costs of meat and staff shortage.

Good news, though. Big Barlow's is reopening at 420 N. Main St. in Manahawkin on Feb. 28, with a grand opening set for March 4.

"We are excited to serve all of our customers with the best BBQ once again!" Barlow shared in a Facebook post announcing the opening.

The new menu features traditional barbecue meats like ribs, pulled pork and brisket, with classic sides including corn bread, slaw and macaroni salad.

"Down the road we may bring back some of the crowd favorites but for now we are concentrating on what bbq is about! Meat, Time and Love!" Barlow wrote.

It will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
