Prescription Drug Take Back Events By Manahawkin Oct. 26

Here's where you can safely dispose of prescription drugs on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Update: Barnegat and Stafford police will also participate.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — National Prescription Drug Take Back Day takes place Saturday, Oct. 26. Several collection sites around the nation will allow you to safely dispose of prescription drugs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Here are the take-back locations near Barnegat and Manahawkin:

  • 900 West Bay Ave., Barnegat
  • 260 East Bay Ave., Manahawkin
  • 50 Railroad Ave., Waretown
  • Harvey Cedars Police Department (7606 Long Beach Blvd.)
  • Surf City Police Department (813 Long Beach Blvd.)

According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

The Drug Enforcement Administration's Take Back Day provides an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction or overdose deaths.
