SURF CITY, NJ — The Long Beach Island Branch of the Ocean County Library in Surf City will stay closed for an additional week while carpet replacement continues, according to the library. The library now plans to reopen Monday, Nov. 2.

The temporary closure affects in-person service at the LBI branch, but several library services will remain available in the meantime. Patrons who have items on hold can ask to have them sent to other Ocean County Library locations while the branch is closed. The library said those held items will not be moved automatically or in bulk.

The branch's book drop will remain open and accessible throughout the closure for anyone returning library materials. That means borrowers can still return books and other items locally even while the building is closed for the flooring work.

The closure also affects direct phone service to the branch. During the shutdown, phone lines at the LBI Branch will be unavailable. Anyone who needs help can call Ocean County Library's main number at 732-349-6200, where library staff will be available to answer questions and assist patrons during the extended closure.

Ocean County Library also said its online services will continue without interruption. Digital resources including eBooks, audiobooks, research databases and virtual programming will remain available around the clock through theoceancountylibrary.org.
