Rescue Of Mom, Daughter Nets Waretown-Based Sea Tow Award

Sea Tow Central New Jersey was awarded for their 2022 rescue of a mom and her 4-year-old daughter stuck in the hull of a capsized boat.

WARETOWN, NJ — Sea Tow Central New Jersey, the local franchisee of a national marine assistance provider, was awarded by its company for going above and beyond in an August rescue of a mother and her 4-year-old daughter.

On Aug. 8, 2022, a Sea Tow Central New Jersey captain received a call on the radio that a 22-foot boat had capsized with two passengers stuck in the hull, according to a company news release.

The captain put out an "all call" to the rest of the team, and within minutes, they were on-scene to rescue the mom and her 4-year-old.

"Weather and water temperatures made the rescue challenging, but in the end, all prevailed," the company said.

A Beach Patrol member entered the capsized boat to rescue the two, who were brought to shore safely thanks to the help of the U.S. Coast Guard, Sea Tow Central New Jersey, Barnegat Light Fire Department, Barnegat Light Beach Patrol and the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit.

Sea Tow Captains Walt Bohn, Dan Boylan, Joseph Gallinoto and Dan Seigal, along with dispatcher Angela Hamilton, were cited for their efforts above and beyond their call of duty by Sea Tow International.

"We're proud of the entire Sea Tow Central New Jersey team," said Sea Tow CEO, Joseph Frohnhoefer. "They went above and beyond to assist the USCG and local authorities in this situation to achieve a positive outcome."
