The Rich History Of Station 119 In Southern Ocean County

Author Ken Able will discuss his new book at the Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library on Monday night.

The Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library will host author Ken Able - the director of the Rutgers University Marine Field Station - from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday night at the branch at 217 South Central Avenue in Surf City.

Able will discuss his new book “Station 119,” which began as a U.S. Coast Guard Station and now houses the marine field station at the end of ”Seven Bridges Road” in the salt marshes of Little Egg Harbor and Great bay.

Able will share highlights from book, which explores the history of U.S. Coast Guard Station No. 119, and its rescue operations, and the estuarine and marine research that now takes place at the facility.
