Boys Soccer Players Earn All-State Honors

Two Southern boys soccer players made New Jersey's all-state team. Kevin Kiernan earned second-team honors from the High School Soccer Coaches Association of New Jersey. Frank Ritchie earned honorable mention. They were honored in a banquet Jan. 6 at the Pines Manor in Edison.

Eighth-Grade Girls In STEM Program At Stockton

Southern Regional Middle School eighth-grade girls participated in the Tween Tech program hosted by Stockton University. The program featured hands-on science activities designed to encourage girls' interests in scientific fields.

The girls were offered 20 workshops focused on the engineering design process and careers in biology. Topics included graphic design, Kodu apps, oceanography, psychology, crime scene investigation and laser motor design.

Southern Regional Middle School teachers and Melissa Krupp, a Stockton adjunct professor, led a workshop on Bernoulli’s Principle of Flight.

Marching Band Participates In Nation's Oldest Thanksgiving Parade

Nine members of the Golden Rams marching band participated in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade. Band members joined other students from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia and Maryland to comprise the Tournament of Bands All-Star Band in the parade. The Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade has operated since 1920, according to WHYY.

  • The Southern girls track and field team got 2019 off to a great start, winning the Ocean County Championship on Wednesday.
  • Boys track and field senior Matthew Byrnes signed his commitment to the Ursinus College men's track team.
