Southern Regional Girls Track Wins Ocean County Relay Title

MANAHAWKIN, N.J. — The Southern Regional girls track team won the 2019 Ocean County Relay Championship on May 3. The Rams also defeated Toms River South, 103-37, and Brick Township, 120-20, to win the 2019 Shore Conference "A" South Divisional Championship on May 6.

Fashion Show

Students enrolled in Julie Yonney-Kriebel’s Clothing Construction & Fashion Studio III and IV classes hosted the annual Fashion Show on May 9 in the auditorium.

The theme was "Under the Sea." Students prepared for the event all year long, developing and showcasing their talents in sewing, event planning and marketing.

The show featured clothing from local shops and fashions from the Southern School store, Entrepeneurship class, Vintage Hut, Prom Closet and the students' own designs. Proceeds from the show raised money for the Family Consumer Sciences Department Scholarship Fund.

Summer Camps

The Southern Regional campus will once again host several sports camps for young athletes this summer. The online brochure contains basic information on each of the camps including dates, times, costs, and camp directors and is available on the Southern Regional homepage www.srsd.net.

Sports Shorts

The Southern Regional boys lacrosse team was named Shore Sports Network Team of the Week for Week 5 (April 29 through May 5). WindMill Restaurants sponsors the award. The team received s special certificate and a $300 WindMill gift card.

Four Southern Regional football players committed to college athletics:

• Sean Macgillivray - West Connecticut football
• Joe Guglielmo - Kean University football
• Carmen Deo - Chestnut Hill College football
• Liam Andersen - University of New Haven track and field.

Bridget Green and Brielle Willoughby won the Mid-Atlantic Scholastic Sailing Association Girls Championship this past weekend for Southern Regional’s sailing team.

The girls lacrosse team defeated Pinelands on May 8, 11-6, during Senior Night.

The boys volleyball team defeated Lacey Township, 2-0, May 9 on Senior Night. The Rams clinched the Shore Conference "A" South division.
