SEATTLE — Sixteen Southern Regional students earned high marks at the Student Television Network Convention and Competition in Seattle. The Southern team took second place in the Social Media Story contest and earned honorable mention in the Music Video contest.

Over 3,000 students from around the world attended the convention March 28 to 31. In each contest, the students received a prompt with limited time to write, film and edit a project. Meeting the deadlines and submitting projects was met with cheers and support from the schools who gathers to root for young filmmakers.

Students and their families primarily funded the trip. But they also received support from the Southern Home and School Association, The Southern Regional Education Foundation, The Lorenzi Fund, Stafford and Long Beach Island PBA locals, as well as local support from those buying candy and t-shirts to help offset the cost of the trip.
