Stafford Founders Day Postponed Until Further Notice
The event had been moved to Aug. 29, but organizers don't think it will be possible to hold that day because of coronavirus restrictions.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Organizers have indefinitely postponed Stafford's Founders Day. The event had been pushed from June 13 to Aug. 29 with hopes that the state would relax coronavirus restrictions enough for the anticipated crowd gatherings.
New Jersey raised its limit on outdoor gatherings July 2 to 500 people. The capacity allowed for certain outdoor events such as graduations to occur. But many summer events that attract more than 500, such as fireworks displays, were postponed or canceled throughout New Jersey.
"All residents are assured that the Stafford Township Recreation Department and the Founders Day Committee in conjunction with the Stafford Historical Society and Historic Preservation Commission are hard at work behind the scenes," Stafford Recreation wrote on its Facebook page. "This group of dedicated individuals is planning an appropriate series of events that will still honor the founding of Stafford Township."

While Founders Day may not look the same this year, organizers remain hopeful that they can provide Stafford with a celebration of its 1749 founding.
