Stafford Middle Schooler Charged After Threatening Social Media Post

STAFFORD, NJ — A Southern Regional Middle School student was arrested and charged after threatening the school with violence on social media, Stafford police said.

The student, unidentified due to being a minor, made the threat through a social media interaction on Friday evening, police said. The school administration learned about the threat Saturday morning and contacted Stafford police.

The student was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats, police said. The student will not be allowed back at school until cleared by mental health practitioners, police said.

Detective Russell Dunfee and School Resource Officer Anthony Vincent led the investigation for Stafford Township Police and were assisted by Southern Regional School District Administrative Staff and the High Tech Crimes Unit of the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.
