LAUREL, MD — They're more than fit to serve. Two Stafford police officers won the Buds Challenge, a fitness and endurance challenge hosted by the Prince George's County Police Department.

Officers Gerardo Jorge and Zach Wiatrowski took first place Wednesday against competition that included police, SWAT, Navy and Air Force duos. Jorge and Wiatrowski performed endurance exercises such as ire flips, sit-ups, a wall-climb, equipment carry, buddy carry, water crossing, and, after all that, a 4-mile trail run.

Wiatrowski has won two New Jersey Elite Challenges and two Prince George Iron Team Challenges. Jorge, Stafford's newest officer, graduated the Ocean County Police Academy in May. He won awards for Overall Best Recruit and Most Physically Fit.
