Stafford School Officials Confirm 40 District Employees Will Lose Jobs, Report Says

A storm of state-mandated changes in curriculum and testing, combined with the financial aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, will force the elimination of 40 Stafford Township school district jobs, school officials confirmed Tuesday in a sober budget presentation, according to an article in the Asbury Park Press.

The positions of seven teachers, two child study team members, 18 teachers’ aides, 10 school greeters and three secretaries will be eliminated to save the district $963,685, according to Superintendent George Chidiac and Business Administrator Margaret Hom. Twelve of the 40 positions are full-time, they said.
