UPDATE : Surflight Theatre Sells For $2 Million At Auction On Thursday, But Attorney Rejects Bid

Bidding suspended briefly while auctioneers confer with bankruptcy trustee.

The bankruptcy attorney has not accepted the $2 million highest bid for the landmark Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

The highest bid at the auction on Thursday afternoon was $2 million by Greg Russo. But sale was contingent upon the bankruptcy attorney’s approval, and that did not happen.

The bidding was interrupted for a time while auctioneers conferred with a bankruptcy trustee when the bids failed to reach a desired price, the The Sandpaper said,

“$2.6 million is what we need,” one auctioneer said.

When the bidding resumed, former Surflight trustee Thomas Mara bid $1.95 million. The highest bid was made by Greg Russo, who declined to comment when the auction was over, The Sandpaper said.
