The superstar surprised newlyweds Kenya Smith and Max Singer by playing a simple version of her song "Blank Space" during their reception at Long Beach Island.

Swift agreed to perform because the groom's mother was ill, according to CBC News. Singer's mother later passed away.

Swift made a surprise appearance at their wedding reception at the Brant Beach Yacht Club Saturday, according to People.com. The performance was arranged by Singer's sister, Ali.

Swift gave a "stripped-down" performance of her hit and gave the couple a special card that said: "So It's Gonna Be Forever," according to People. Singer is a big fan of Swift, and his sister sent a letter to Swift in April.

Ali told Swift how her brother and mother had danced to Swift's hit song after they were wed in a hospital room before Singer's mother died, according to People.com.
