Trails Closed At Some Southern Ocean Parks For Deer Hunting Season
You can't hunt at Ocean County parks, but you can on adjacent properties, so these trails will be closed during deer hunting season:
OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — As the six-day firearm season for deer hunting begins, trails at some parks in Southern Ocean will be closed, according to the Ocean County Parks and Recreation Department.
While hunting is not permitted within any Ocean County Parks boundaries, it is permitted on properties adjacent to parks, which includes some of the county's Natural Lands Trust Properties, county officials said. For hunting rules and regulations, you can click here.
Because of this, all trails are closed at the following parks during the six-day firearm season (Dec. 9 through 14) and permit shotgun season (Dec. 18 through 20): Wells Mills County Park (Waretown), Freedom Fields County Park (Little Egg Harbor) and Cedar Bridge Tavern County Historical Site (Barnegat).
