Woman Jailed For Cruelty After 16 Dogs Found In Southern Ocean
The dogs were taken to Stafford's Ocean County Animal Facility. 15 were adopted, 1 was euthanized, OCPO said.

A Tuckerton woman was sentenced to 60 days in jail Wednesday for cruelty after 16 dogs were recovered from her uninhabitable home, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced Friday. Police found a malnourished and wounded dog running loose Sept. 3 and took the dogs from her home to a Stafford animal facility, the OCPO said.
Allison Konowitz, 36, also received two years probation and must pay $1,225 in restitution, according to the OCPO. She pled guilty to animal cruelty Dec. 19, the OCPO said.
Tuckerton police observed several dogs running loose before securing the malnourished and wounded dog, the OCPO said. The officers found uninhabitable conditions in Konowitz's home, with the door left open as dogs came and went freely, according to the OCPO.

Sixteen dogs were recovered and taken to Stafford's Ocean County Animal Facility, the OCPO said. One puppy was euthanized due to her condition, which resulted in Konowitz's animal-cruelty charge, according to the OCPO. However, the other 15 puppies were adopted by loving families, the OCPO said.
