Watch For Social Media Ticket Scams, Barnegat Police Say

BARNEGAT, NJ — As summer grows closer, you may see people on social media offering concert tickets for your favorite artist for sale. But you should be wary of these, according to Barnegat police.

These ticket sellers may be scammers, police said.

Concerts are often targeted by scammers with fake ticket sales. "These individuals will use compromised social media accounts acting as legitimate sellers offering tickets to an event," Barnegat police said.

This often happens on Facebook, police said.

Police urge residents to use caution when purchasing tickets online and rely on reputable websites for ticketing needs.
