Woman, Dog Killed In Apparent Murder-Suicide In Ocean County
Little Egg Harbor Township police said both the woman and the dog were fatally shot inside an apartment early Saturday.
LITTLE EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 49-year-old woman died early Saturday in what Ocean County authorities called an apparent murder-suicide.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Little Egg Harbor Township police, authorities responded to a home Whitemarsh Court around 5:10 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from a woman who believed someone was breaking into her apartment.
After officers arrived, they forced their way into the apartment and found a woman with a gunshot wound to the face. Police then found a dog, who authorities said also died from gunshot wounds.

According to police, officers found a 52-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head. The man was conscious when police found him, and authorities took him to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, where he died, police said.
Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and Little Egg Harbor Township Police Department investigated the crime scene and determined the man shot the woman and the dog before turning the gun on himself, authorities said.
