Basking Ridge Personal Trainers Are Putting Locals On The Path To A Healthier Life

NJ natives Marisa Savino and US Marine Donny Rumrill opened Route of Healthy Living with the desire to help others live a healthy life.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A global pandemic wasn't going to stop personal trainers Marisa Savino and Donny Rumrill from following their dreams to help others live a healthy life.

Determined the pair opened Route of Healthy Living at 88 South Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge in August 2020. One year later, their dream is thriving.

"It has always been a dream to open up a personal training studio," said Savino of Warren County.

Savino and Rumrill both individually have seven years of personal training experience and previously worked at commercial gyms.

They both eventually left the gym and Savino tried in-home training while Rumrill tried working at a private studio.

"With the commercial gym the music was too loud and there were too many people in there. It took the personal aspect of training out of it," said Rumrill a US Marine veteran. "In-home was more personal but it was at their home and it's not always the right environment when you have kids and pets."

A personal training studio seemed like the right fit so why not team up to open their own studio? And Basking Ridge was the perfect location.

That is why location was key for the pair. Savino and Rumrill both looked for an area that could afford to take on the "luxury cost" and really commit to their health.

"When it comes to overall wellness… it's a lifetime thing. Not a 30-day fix, 60-day fix… literally the longer you can commit to training to your health the more sustainable and better results you will get," said Rumrill.

At Route of Healthy Living, clients are offered one-on-one person training that is customized and tailored to each person.

"From postnatal to getting ready for bootcamp to powerlifting, bodybuilding, weight lifting circuit training, we do it all," said Savino. "We structure a program on what their goals are and limitations."

Not just the physical exercise but Savino and Rumrill really want to help improve a client's entire life.

"From the day time, how is their work life? How is their sleeping? We take every aspect of their life into consideration. We want to teach better habits, incorporate drinking more water and nutrition," said Savino.
