$100K Grant Sought To Improve Community Center In Basking Ridge
On Tuesday, the Township Committee approved a resolution to submit a grant application to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Township is seeking to improve its Community Center.
On Tuesday, the Township Committee unanimously approved the submission of a grant application for $100,000 to The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs' (DCA) Division of Local Government Services (DLGS) for the Local Recreation Improvement Grant (LRIG) for the Department of Parks & Recreation.
If approved, the grant funding would be used for various improvements to the Community Center at 289 South Maple Ave., which is the Parks & Rec department's primary programming and meeting space. It also serves as a polling location for regular elections and early voting.

Potential projects to be funded include improved ADA accessibility in the parking lot, connecting walking paths, building entrances, and the patio area, as well as building access and security enhancements and HVAC upgrades.
In 2023 and 2024, Bernards Township was awarded funding for park accessibility improvements.

This 2026 funding would be used in conjunction with the 2023 and 2024 amounts and with requested capital improvement funds to continue ADA accessibility improvement recommendations.
The Local Recreation Improvement Grant has been established by the State of New Jersey to support improvement and repairs to public recreation, with a recommended maximum award of $100,000.
The Township plans to match this amount if granted.
Grant awards will be announced mid-April.
