Trip Along Transmission Lines Cause Power Outage In Basking Ridge Area
The outage impacted JCP&L customers in Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, Bedminster, Far Hills, and Peapack & Gladstone.

Update: As of 5:55 a.m. on Wednesday, 61 customers in Basking Ridge, Bedminster and Bridgewater remain without power.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A power outage impacting more than 12,000 JCP&L customers was reported in the Basking Ridge area on Tuesday around 5:45 p.m.
"The outage in Chester and Bernards last night was the result of a loss of supply to the circuits, meaning a trip along the high-voltage transmission line that feeds the substation," said JCP&L Spokesman Christopher Hoenig.

JCP&L is reporting the following outages as of 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday:
- Bedminster - 1,736
- Bernards - 5,198
- Bernardsville - 3,447
- Far Hills - 510
- Peapack & Gladstone - 1,164
As a result, Bernards Township announced that its town hall is open to serve as a charging cooling center.

JCP&L estimates power restoration around 7:30 p.m.
Residents should report power outages to JCPL.
