2 Republican Candidates Endorsed For Bernards Township Committee

Paul Humbert and Vanathi Raghupathy received the endorsement from the Bernards Township Republicans for the Township Committee.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Bernards Township Republican Municipal Committee (RMC) has announced its endorsement of Paul Humbert and Vanathi Raghupathy as the Republican candidates for Bernards Township Committee. Both candidates were noted for their commitment to the community and professional backgrounds.

Scott Mitzner, Chair of the BTRMC, stated that Humbert and Raghupathy will be "exceptional representatives of the entire Bernards community and fight for all our residents."

Mitzner added that their messages regarding unity, controlling overdevelopment, and planning for the future resonate with residents.

Paul Humbert, a Basking Ridge resident since 1980, has a background in optimizing supply chains. His involvement in local politics includes his opposition to the Millington Quarry development, which he believed would have "permanently
altered the character of our community."

Humbert said that residents deserve "clear cost analysis and an honest assessment of how proposed changes will impact the long-term character of Bernards."

Vanathi Raghupathy, who has lived in Basking Ridge since 2016, is a parent, immigrant, and technology professional. She prioritizes thoughtful planning for growth and infrastructure, including school capacity.

"Basking Ridge is my home," said Raghupathy. "I understand the hopes and concerns of families who work hard, contribute to the community, and want stability and opportunity."

Raghupathy also volunteers at the Bridgewater Hindu Temple and serves on the Community Affairs Committee. As a special needs parent, she understands the importance of time, compassion, and strong community ties.

As a data analyst with a master’s degree in computer science, Raghupathy brings analytical skills to local government.

"I will be a representative for all residents who came here legally, worked hard, paid taxes, and waited years to build a life in this country," said Raghupathy.

Humbert and Raghupathy share a commitment to keeping Bernards Township debt-free and opposing overdevelopment. They also support fully funding police and first responders, ensuring transparency, and protecting community character.
