2 Unlocked Luxury SUVs With Keys Inside Stolen In Basking Ridge
Three more vehicles were also burglarized with items stolen. Of the 3, two of the cars were left unlocked in Basking Ridge, police said.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Two luxury SUVs were stolen and three cars were burglarized recently in Basking Ridge. All but one vehicle was left unlocked. The two stolen vehicles also had the keys left inside, Bernards Township Police said.
"Please keep vehicles locked, without the keys in them and valuables out of sight. Pay attention to suspicious activity at neighbors’ residences and of vehicles that appear suspicious in parks and parking lots," Bernards Township Police said.

Between 10 a.m. on Oct. 13 and 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 14: Two unlocked vehicles were burglarized on Warwick lane. A resident awoke on Oct. 14 and learned that their 2019 Volkswagen GTI and their 2014 Acura SUV had been entered and items had been moved about inside the vehicle. The homeowner admitted to having left the vehicles unlocked but reported no items taken from either vehicle.
On Oct. 18 between 4 and 4:41 p.m.: A resident of Stonehedge Court reported a burglary to their
vehicle which had been parked at Mountain Park on Martinsville Road. The victim reported locking their vehicle and placing a pocket book partially underneath the front passenger seat. When they returned to their vehicle after a walk, they found the passenger side window broken and the pocket book stolen. Items taken were contents inside the purse to include credit cards personal items and a wallet. The estimated total amount of loss was about $800.

Between 6 p.m. on Oct. 23 and 5 a.m. on Oct. 24: A resident of the 40 block of South Alward
Avenue reported that their vehicle had been stolen. The victim reported that they parked their 2019 Audi Q5 in their driveway and left the vehicle unlocked with the key fob inside the vehicle. When they awoke, they contacted the police department realizing that the vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was recovered later that day in Newark parked unoccupied on a street. There are no suspects currently.
Between 6 p.m. on Oct. 23 and 5 a.m. on Oct. 24: A resident of the 10 blocks of East Craig Street reported their 2018 Audi Q7 which also unlocked in their driveway with a key fob left inside the vehicle was stolen. This vehicle too was located later that day yet again in Newark parked and unoccupied on a street.
