The goal is to raise a total of $10K before the New Year to repair 4 miles of damaged boardwalk trails at Lord Stirling Park.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — It's a race to collect the final $2,000 before the New Year to repair damages to boardwalk trails at Lord Stirling Park.
The public is being asked to help the Somerset County Park Foundation and the Somerset County Park Commission’s Environmental Science Department reach their goal of a total of $10,000 by Dec. 31.
So far, donations totaling $7,875 out of the $10,000 have been raised for the "Rebuild the Boardwalks" crowdfunding campaign.

"This is the season to give, and by donating you will be investing in your community, promoting public health, and giving a tax-free donation," said Somerset County Park Commission Secretary-Director Geoffrey Soriano. "Meeting our goal of $10,000 is extremely important. After the wear and tear of recent storms, these repairs are desperately needed so the public has safe access to our nature trails."
The funds will be used to repair and replace sections of four miles of boardwalk trails damaged by natural causes and wear and tear caused by pedestrians. Boardwalk repairs and replacement at the Environmental Education Center will begin in 2022.
