Power Outages Caused 3 Basking Ridge Schools To Dismiss Early

Severe winds, downed trees and wires caused power outages across Basking Ridge including at 3 schools and also the township library.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Three Basking Ridge schools dismissed early following power outages caused by severe wind and downed trees and wires on Monday. A total of 176 township residents remain without power as of 7:50 p.m., according to JCP&L.

Ridge High School and William Annin Middle School dismissed at 11:45 a.m. and Cedar Hill dismissed at 12:45 p.m. There was no after school care and the eighth grade conferences were rescheduled, Bernards Township School District announced.

The Bernards Township Library also closed due to power issues Monday.

A high wind warning was in effect for the county until 6 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service reported.
