35 Arrests Made at Far Hills Steeplechase
Most of the arrests were for public urination. However the total number of arrests was down from recent years, according to police.

FAR HILLS, NJ — A total of 35 arrests were made at the Far Hills Steeplechase, which drew about 40,000 visitors to the area last weekend.
The majority of the arrests were for public urination, prohibited behavior, underage drinking, possession of cocaine, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest by force and simple assault.
However, the number of arrests was less than last year. In 2015, 35 people were arrested; in 2014, 36 arrests were made and in 2013, 55 people were arrested.

The decline in arrests could be linked to added security measures put in place.
"Police K-9s provided extra support and random vehicle checks were conducted," Far Hills Police Chief Michael DeCarolis said. "These measures provided peace of mind for attendees and was a deterrent for bad behavior."
