The Coakley Russo Golf course sponsored a 2 Person, 2 Club Team Scramble Saturday, July 17.

The Coakley Russo Memorial Golf course hosted the third tournament of the season, the 2 Person, 2 Club Team Scramble, on Saturday, July 17. In total, twenty-two players participated in the event.

At this tournament, players are allowed only two clubs and one putter, and the chosen clubs cannot be shared with other players on the team. Each player then tees off and the best drive is selected. Team members then play from that spot, and continue until the ball is holed, and that number is the score recorded for the team.

Just before tee time, the players received their final instructions from tournament coordinator Gene Cass, and then it was off to the course.

Enthusiasm was high as players competed in each category for prizes: the longest drive for men and women, the ball closest to the pin, and the top prize for lowest team score. As the heat intensified throughout the morning, stamina became an important contributor to the match.

When the tournament was over one team emerged victorious. This was the team of Scott Baach and Mike Velasco shooting a thirty-four which is one under par. In a close second were the teams of Peter Tobia and Stan Yagiello and David Abel and John Gardner. Both of these teams shot a thirty-five, or par.
