5K Run To Prevent Underage Drinking To Be Held In Basking Ridge
The race on June 2 supports initiatives that reduce and prevent underage drinking in the community.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The 31st Annual Pleasant Valley Twilight Challenge 5K to support initiatives that reduce and prevent underage drinking in the community will be held on Sunday, June 2 at Pleasant Valley Park in Basking Ridge.
The event is sponsored by the Bernards Township Health Department and the Bernards Township Municipal Alliance Against Substance Abuse. Funds will go towards supporting initiatives that reduce and prevent underage drinking in the community, including sending high school students to the Lindsey Meyer Teen Institute and Youth Mental Health First Aid Training.
The race begins at 6 p.m. and includes two cross country loops around the park. There is also a one mile health walk at 5:30 p.m. and a children’s Lollipop Loop at the conclusion of the 5K.

Registration is now open online here or members of the community can pick up a form at Charter Day or at the Bernards Township Health Department. The Municipal Alliance is also accepting sponsorship and donations.
Pre–registration by Friday, May 31 is $25 and $30 on race day. Walkers can register for the $15 one-mile walk in advance or the day of the event.

All runners must pick up their numbers on race day between 4:30 and 5:45 p.m. The Lollipop Loop for children begins around 6:45 p.m. at the conclusion of the 5K race. Children of all ages are welcome to join.
Prizes will be awarded to top overall male and female top three runners in each age group: 14 and under, 15 to 19 and then in 10 year increments up to 80 and over. No duplicate awards will be given.
Awards take place at 7 p.m. Swag bags will be filled with giveaways from the Municipal Alliance and other local businesses and will be distributed to participants, as well as a race t-shirt.
This year the Alliance is offering chipped timing and markers at the 1 mile, 2 mile, and 3 mile mark. Timing will be provided by Blue Ridge Timing and race day snacks are provided by Dean’s Market.
