Town Hall Open As Work To Restore Power Continues In Basking Ridge
Bernards Township Police are urging residents not to travel due to the severe storms in our area.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Bernards Township Town Hall will remain open until 11 p.m. on Monday night for residents experiencing power outages.
"JCP&L is rapidly restoring power," said Bernards Township Office of Emergency Management in an alert.
The township urged residents who are still without to report it at 1-888-544-4877 or firstenergycorp.com/outages_help/Report_Power_Outages.html.

"Severe storms have knocked down trees and utility poles in the Township - avoid travel unless necessary. Report power outages to JCP&L.," said Bernards Township Police in an alert.
As of 8:30 p.m., JCP&L is reported 706 customers without power in the township and more than 2,500 in Somerset County. Restoration is estimated around 1 a.m. This is down from more than 5,500 in the township and 12,000 in the county.

Other Somerset County towns with outages include Bedminster, Bernardsville, Bridgewater, Far Hills, Peapack and Gladstone, Warren, and Watchung.
Customers should immediately report downed wires to their local police or fire department and to JCP&L by calling the Outage Reporting number below or clicking the “Report Outage” link on the FirstEnergy website firstenergycorp.com.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch through 9 p.m. on Monday and a flood watch through midnight.

Tuesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Patchy fog after 2 a.m. Low around 64. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Patchy fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 79. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Wednesday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 60. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.
