85 Residents Remain In Dark, Roads Reopened Yet Obstructed

Bernards Township schools have reopened Monday yet because of obstructed roads some parents were asked to drive their students to school.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — It's been almost a week since Wednesday's snowstorm that wrecked havoc on Basking Ridge and things are still not back to normal.

Township schools have reopened Monday, yet because of obstructed roads some parents in those areas were asked to drive their students to school.

"Any student who can’t be appropriately dropped off will be driven back to the school they came from after the route has been complete," the district noted about afternoon drop off as well.

All roads in the township are now open or passable yet the following roads remain obstructed or otherwise compromised:

  • Manchester Drive and Tangelwood Lane – road passable
  • Flintlock – Tree blocking lane – no wires - passable
  • Gerard Avenue and Debra Lane - Tree blocking lane – no wires
  • Gerard Avenue and Lyons Place - Tree blocking lane – no wires
  • Dryden Road – Wires down near #25 – road passable
  • Whitenack Road and Emily Road – Tree and wires down – road passable
  • Old Army Road near Old Farm Road – low hanging wire –road passable

Additionally, JCP&L is reporting 85 township residents still do not have power as of Monday at 8:45 a.m. A total of 1,059 Somerset County residents also do not have power, according to JCP&L.

PSE&G is reporting a total of 586 Somerset County residents in the dark.

JCP&L reports power is expected to be restored by 11 p.m. Monday night while PSE&G reports restoration by Tuesday night.
