Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation Awards $11,000 in Scholarships to Local Students

Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation announced the recipients of its 2016 scholarship program.

Basking Ridge, N.J. (July 5, 2016) – In early 2016, Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation announced the expansion of its annual scholarship program, adding seven in the sum of $1,000 each to the total possible scholarships available. Announced today, the Foundation is pleased to share the 2016 recipients of The Robert L. Birkhahn Community Spirit Scholarship, The Richard A. Romano Rutgers Scholarship, and The Affinity Continuing Education Scholarship.

Committed to strengthening the communities it serves, the Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation awards scholarships to members based on community involvement, academic achievement, and extra-curricular activities. Recipients include:

The Robert L. Birkhahn Community Spirit Scholarship, dedicated to the late Affinity Executive Vice President Robert L. Birkhahn and awarded to the following graduating high school seniors:

The Richard A. Romano Rutgers Scholarship, in honor of Richard A. Romano, Sr., longtime volunteer on the Affinity Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee and awarded to the following graduating high school seniors, planning to enroll, transfer, or continue their educations at Rutgers University:

· Sanika Baodhankar, Hazlet, N.J.

· Zaid Saud, East Brunswick, N.J.

The Affinity Continuing Education Scholarship, awarded to the following students planning to continue their degree at a two or four year college or university:

· Isabella Menzies, Harleysville, P.A.

· Isabeau Touchard, Dunellen, N.J.
