AI In Education: Bernards Twp. Schools Looks To Partner With Watchung Hills

The neighboring school districts are looking to team up, hire a consultant, and learn more about AI technology and its impacts on education.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township and Watchung Hills school districts are looking to team up in an effort to learn more about Artificial Intelligence(AI) and its impacts on education.

Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction Kristen Fox is coordinating with Watchung Hills Regional High School about what they are doing in their districts. During discussions they came across AI for Education who offer guidelines, support, and professional support for school leaders.

"There is great value to have full-time dedicated experts talking to all stakeholders and Ms. Fox is exploring partnering with Watchung Hills Regional High School which would include splitting the cost and include Board members, teachers, staff, and parents to potentially be attendees," said Board President Jennifer White at the Jan. 27 Board of Education meeting. "It's an interesting idea to partner with another district as we’re all learning to navigate AI with our students."

Board member Keith Molinari also was in favor of partnering with Watchung Hills.

"I’ve been skeptical about consultants in the past but I think this is great. Looking at innovative, looking at partnering with another school district Watchung Hills, it's a subject where nobody in the district is a subject matter expert," said Molinari. "This is new for all of us so I think bringing outside experts and navigating this together with another district I think it's fantastic… I am 100 percent behind it."
